Katana v1.5 Release!
     Feb. 17, 2010

Katana v1.5 (codename Z@toichi) has been released! After several months of work and some reconsideration's of the pre-packaged tools, the new release is here. This release has a couple of major changes to the disto list and the introduction of the Katana Tool Kit. The new version should be much more friendly for all the Windows users out there... more here.

ShmooCon VI
     Feb. 8, 2010

Shmoocon VI was awesome!!! (as always) It's the only Con with the balls to keep running with 20+ inches of snowfall. The roads and metro were closed but the Con was still on!

To be fair, I might have a slanted view of Shmoocon since I won "Best built onsite" Shmooball launcher. OK, to be honest I was the only entry in that category, BUT the launcher was still pretty B.A (video coming soon). Though not nearly as threatening as the PaulDotCom guys and their mechanized Shmooball cannon of mass destruction.

Shmoocon also saw the public unveiling of the VERA-NG. This is something I have been working on for a little while now for pure self amusement. This article will give more information, but the VERA-NG is basically a dual Bluetooth and WiFi snipper Nerf riffle with a GPS and laptop mounted to the stock. It turned out to be quite a favorite at the Con.

The Katana v1.5 Pre Release went great. Thanks to all of you who made donations to Hackers For Charity. The pre-release should hopefully be on the Informer soon, with the official release soon to follow. I go into more detail on the updates when I post the full release.

Nov. 15, 2009 - I have finally gotten around to putting up the HFAC Forum. I have started a couple of threads for Katana and hope for more soon.
I also wanted to thank Johnny Long and Hacker For Charity for helping us find some mirrors for Katana. I have added a link to Hacker For Charity on the homepage in hopes people will check out what they are doing and find out how to help.

Oct. 7, 2009 - Bugfix for pwntooth. The makefile for the tools was updated and should work fine now. I am also in the process of finishing Katana v1. I hope to have it out within the next few weeks.

Aug 17, 2009 - On my way to and from DefCon 17 I started work on a new tool and an update. I fixed some major bugs with pwntooth with how I handled iterations and where the config file was loaded from. I posted the updated code. I also started work on a Bluetooth device cloner. Its in beta right now, but should be up soon.
I have been spending the last couple weeks working on the first full release of Katana. Right now I am looking into portable Windows applications to add. I hope to have it out in October.

July 08, 2009 - I made updates to vCardBlaster and Blueper. Mainly just fixing some bugs. I also released a NEW tool; pwntooth. pwntooth is designed to automate Bluetooth Pen-Testing. It scans for devices, then runs the tools specified in the pwntooth.conf; included blueper, bluesnarfer, Bluetooth Stack Smasher (BSS), carwhisperer, psm_scan, rfcomm_scan, and vcardblaster.

May 22, 2009 - Katana 1.0 Beta has been released! Thanks to the Virginia Tech folks for allowing me to use their mirror site. I have bundled the package in a RAR file, so users can use something like WinRAR(Windows), PeaZip(Windows/OSX/Linux) or unrar(Linux). See the Katana project page for more information and installation instructions.

May 20, 2009 - Blueper 0.2 and vCardBlaster 0.2 have been released! They are being hosted from SourceForg.NET. You can get them from the Downloads page.

I have finished the Beta for Katana v1. I am working on hosting it right now. It has come out to just over 6GB, so it fits nicely on an 8GB flash drive. You should easily be able to get a USB flash drive of this size for less the 20 bucks online. I would love to get feedback on these new project. My contact information is on the About page.

May 18, 2009 - Hack From A Cave.com is up and running! It's hitting the ground running with several projects already available. The current major project consuming most of my time is Katana. It should be available soon. This tool includes many distributions under one roof, so to speek. Including: Backtrack, The Ultimate Boot CD, Ophcrack, Slax 6, Damn Small Linux and more...
Some of the other tools coming soon are Blueper and vCardBlaster. Each of these tools is preforms a Bluetooth based DoS. They exploit file transfer and vCard messaging respectively.
